Hem.. guys.. if u cannot find much to talk about in your presentation parts, try doing comparison with some other films.. like for the special effects bit.. the one with the 360 camera take of the dungeon.. that can be used to compare with rear window.. which had that similar feature.. other than that, another that i can think of is the cell shots and closeups that they used.. which are also seen in silence..

hope you guys get the idea

do avoid crude and severely dark humour.

what you should aim for is sophistication and wit where
possible. dark humour is encouraged but within the context
of civility, ie, not off-putting and offensive as this wld detract
from the purpose of the presentation and will not gain any
marks.

i'll most likely deal with the philosophy part in the metatext so i'll probably be doing that.. so Jun wei and Gavin pls figure out who's doing the intro and the technical stuff.. okay?

Secondly, i'll need to meet u guys on a certain day to go tru what ur slides supposed to have, what are the points that should be emphasized and the coherency of the whole presentation. i'll let you guys do your own slides so that u know what u have to say and be prepared for the presentation. after our individual components are done, we'll send it to someone to compile it.

lastly, if u have pictures used to to show certain scenes do not be afraid to put them in as that will let the audience see the actual scene and do not have to imagine it in their heads, for those who need to show clips pls note down the time of the starting of the clips.. (will be especially useful for technical and character analysis people)

Hannibal Lecter Rise Again
So to start with...the killer kills and the FBI has had no luck with the case and somehow an agent, Crawford sends Clarice. Out of the whole big team of FBI (all trained)…Clarice was selected. She is young, still at the academy to become an FBI-agent…and well.. not experienced. Crawford wants Clarice to manipulate the smart Lecter, who was a psychiatrist who ate his victims. All this contribute to Clarice being the HEROINE at the end..rite? All the chances given to her…and also her confidence..that makes her accept the challenging and dangerous task.

Moreover…the case involves the brutal mass killer and that all the victims are young females. To play fire with fire…?

as future classes may involve having access to a computer. can u use one at
a community centre or regional library?

anyway, while its good that you are looking at the other films, focus on
'silence of the lambs' and the ideas, themes, music, etc of the film.

I did a check on internet sometime ago, the searches reveal the same thing about why jodie foster didn't continue being clarice in "Hannibal". Maybe we can try to e-mail jodie and ask for her comment. Haha.....it is a joke.
I doubt we will be even able to find any of her e-mail add.

btw, have you thought of using flash for the presentation or you wan to use the good-old powerpoint?

i feel that julianne moore portrayl an aged clarice starling with botax injection. She looks old but is not that old.

How many years have pass after Lecter escape from the jail and write a letter to starling?

Or should we should just focus on "Silence of the Lamb" to make it less complicating.

btw, dun worry. i am on the same boat as u, i got to work part time to help out with finances at home and like wise i have no internet connection at home.

What you need you guys to do now is concentrate on your MST and let alvin know when you guys will be free so he can delegate the roll and job for presentation.

Or if you guys are really not free or a better idea will be that alvin will post the job on the blog and you guys can check out the blog for updates. If you dislike the job he posted or have comments, you guys can post back on the blog and state your dislikes, if that happen we have a very much active blog.

I read from somewhere that the reason why Jodie Foster wasnt continuing on as Clarice was due to some script issues.. she made them change the script once in the draft even before shooting began.. after that.. she just quit.. and that was it.. i guess no one knows what really went on then.. but yeah.. julianne did alright i guess.. she did not have to be young and energetic.. put urself in her shoes..

Imagine.. at the start of Hannibal.. she got into alot of mess after killing a drug lord infront of the media.. with a baby.. how positive is that? and also.. she got a medal for being the FBI agent who shot the most people.. its been years after silence.. and obviously.. she is also quite tired and worn out.. how can she remain energetic?

And even more.. to help siling on the feminism bit.. lets see.. i would talk bout the intial lift scene.. the one with a lift of huge smart FBI male agents and a puny little woman in the list.. and ironically.. she came out to be hero.. or heroine.. in the show... chew on that..

Other than that.. she's like a symbol.. Buffalow bill hunts women.. and what does it take to get him? another woman.. duh? and yeah.. its like.. fighting for rights and stuff too.. equality.. away from the sexist society...

Other than that.. theres one more important part.. about clarice again.. but not so much on the fact that she's a woman.. its her courage.. theres like the raspail car scene.. with the head in the jar.. freaked her out.. scared her to tears.. but still she managed to make it back to Baltimore mental institute to speak with lecter.. and showned also before that.. when lecter tried to upset her with his talk bout her cheap shoes cheap eyes and her country origin... it was realli harsh.. but she didnt break down.. nor did she end up with lecter on a plate with fava beans and a nice Chiianti on the side.. hahaha.. kk.. thats all .. for now..

no offence though, but where are the guys in our group? we can have 101 ideas but we can't spilt the work among three guys unless you wan to seek mr sanjay's approval of removing them from our group in the case of inactive participation. it been 2 weeks and i have send them invitation in the beginning when i set up the blog. we need their participation, otherwise it will kill the 3 (siling, you and me) of us to think of a presentation that would deem to be the best of the best when our presentation week is nearing. Kindly ask them to show enthusiam otherwise it will be hard on us. btw, regarding the presentation
1) Do a timeline as the story progress from "Red Dragon" to "Silence of the lamb" than to Hannibal (Consider the most gory movie of the three).
2) How the director uses their skill to portrayl the story in a heart gripping manner
3) Answer to why isn't the same actress who acted Clarice Starling in "Silence of the lamb" (First of the trilogy) use also in Hannibal. IMHO: if they use the same actress, i greatly feel that there will be a link created in my mind to follow closely. i felt that Jodie Foster really brought out the character of Clarice Starling, while i feel Juilianne Moore looks a bit too old for the young and energatic role of Clarice Starling.
4) Why is the movie so successful that i can be made into a trilogy thats about it, Ps: siling, i think to you need to have at least 1 post this e-learning week otherwise you will be consider absent in mr sanjay class. Ciao Best of luck to all your MST.
